First Due Second Alarm Restaurant Fire
Shortly after 6 AM on Thursday, February 15, 2007, a box alarm was struck for a lot of black smoke coming from the Bay N Surf Restaurant in the 14000 block of Baltimore Avenue. First arriving Engine 102 found heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof. Chief 10 (acting chief Lovell) arrived shortly thereafter, and established the Baltimore Ave command. A second alarm was quickly requested.
In all, 82 firefighters operated in sub-zero weather conditions for just over three hours to fight the fire. The LVFD would also like to extend it's sincere thanks to the staff and management of Nuzback's Bar, which opened early to provide firefighters with a warm environment to recuperate from the weather and firefighting. Additionally, the LVFD Auxiliary came out to provide warm drinks and snacks.
