Pedestrian Struck by Train in Laurel

At 1755 on December 29, 2004, units from the Laurel Volunteer Fire Dept. and Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad were alerted to a reported pedestrian struck by a train in the vicinity of Laurel-Bowie Road and Cherry Lane. Units checked the area, and found the patient to be located to the rear of the 14000 block of Bramble Lane, a few blocks from the reported location. Once fire & rescue personnel gained access to the patient, he was quickly assesd to be a priority 1 (life threatening), and a helicopter was requested. Providers stabalized the patient as best they could on the scene. Once sufficently stabalized, the patient was transported by Medic 49 to a nearby elementary school, where he was flown by Trooper 2 to a local trauma center.
